Artist’s Statement: 

“Trans” as a prefix can mean “across” or “through.”

The term “transparent” as an adjective describes things that “allow light to pass through so that objects behind can be distinctly seen,” as well as concepts that are “easy to perceive or detect.”

To illustrate these senses of “trans,” I rigged a strip of transparent tape across a Scotch tape box in such a way that the box and letters on it spelling “trans” can be seen through it easily.
